About the Role As Building Safety Manager, you will work closely with internal enforcement officers and external stakeholders—including building proprietors and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)—to ensure risks posed by unsafe cladding and other fire safety issues are identified and addressed appropriately.
You’ll lead on collecting and reviewing data related to external wall systems (EWS), supporting enforcement action where necessary, and ensuring building owners take informed, timely action to safeguard residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake desktop reviews and risk-based inspections of residential buildings.
  • Collect and assess data on EWS and fire risk assessments (FRAEW).
  • Engage with building owners to verify fire safety measures, remediation plans, and funding status.
  • Identify ‘missing’ buildings from national funding schemes and coordinate with MHCLG.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the Fire and Rescue Service, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide timely responses to enquiries from stakeholders including councillors and property owners.
  • Support enforcement activity and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Pattern:
  • 3 days on-site conducting building inspections
  • 2 days in the office for reporting and administrative tasks
Experience:
  • A degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in Building Safety, Fire Safety, or Building Surveying
  • Experience with HHSRS Surveys
  • Strong knowledge of legislation including:
    • Building Safety Act 2022
    • Housing Act 2004
    • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
    • Fire Safety Act 2021
    • Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
