Job Description

Role Purpose
  • This role offers the perfect blend of remote working and site visits, providing a dynamic and flexible work environment. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing Electrical Engineering Installations for buildings of various sizes and ages. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all designs conform to professional and technical standards, as well as statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Electrical Building Services installations in line with agreed standards and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor budget allocations and ensure expenditure remains within limits.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, specifications, drawings, and contract documentation.
  • Supervise site meetings, agree on handovers, and finalise accounts.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards.
  • Design power systems, lighting installations, fire alarms, security systems, and more.
  • Lead on sustainability and energy conservation initiatives.
  • Manage and review consultants for individual projects.
  • Assist in updating standard engineering specifications and workload planning.

Skills and Experience
  • Qualifications: HNC or equivalent, with professional membership (IET/CIBSE).
  • Experience: Proven experience in Electrical Building Services Design, project management, and contractor management.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Hevacomp or equivalent HVAC design packages, AutoCAD, and a sound understanding of various systems including Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting, and Intruder Alarms.
  • IT Skills: Competence in IT systems, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong personal drive, excellent planning and organisation skills, effective communication, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplined team.
  • Special Conditions: A full clean driving licence and the ability to undertake inspections in challenging environments.
