Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Part-Time)

Are you experienced in supporting young people with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, or SEMH? We're looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Alternative Provision in South Tyneside.

Starting ASAP and continuing into the new academic year (September 2025).

About the Role:
This part-time role is ideal for someone with a calm, resilient approach who thrives in a nurturing, high-impact environment. You’ll support students who may face barriers in mainstream settings, helping them build confidence, routine, and positive relationships.

Morning: In-class support (1:1 or small group)
Afternoon: Enrichment activities promoting life skills, social development, and engagement

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students with autism, ADHD and SEMH needs
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support
  • Assisting with learning tasks and structured activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Collaborating with teaching and pastoral staff
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience in Alternative Provision, PRUs or SEN settings
  • Confident supporting children with challenging behaviour, anxiety or dysregulation
  • Calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
