The Role:
As an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll be working closely with a pupil in Year 4 who has a diagnosis of Autism. Your role will focus on delivering one-to-one support throughout the school day, helping to manage routines, access learning activities, and develop communication and social interaction. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt strategies and ensure the pupil’s needs are consistently met.
The Candidate:
You should hold a degree in any subject and bring a patient, empathetic approach to the role. Confidence, consistency, and the ability to build trust are essential. Experience supporting children with Autism, whether in a school, care, or voluntary setting, will be an advantage.
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – A strong interest in SEN and supporting individual pupil progress.
• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as SEN support, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
