Job Description
Pertemps Education is seeking a SEN Teacher to join an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Additional Resource Provision (ARP) within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Brixton. This specialist provision supports pupils with complex communication and sensory needs associated with autism, offering a structured and nurturing environment integrated within a broader inclusive school setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine impact, teaching a small Year 3/4 class of pupils with additional needs, supported by experienced teaching assistants and a multi-disciplinary team.
Position Details:
- Position: SEN Teacher (Year 3/4 – ARP)
- Location: Brixton
- Start Date: September 2025
- Interview Date: Immediate
- Salary: M2 – M6 (dependent on experience)
The Role:
- Teach a small, well-supported Year 3/4 class of pupils with ASD within the ARP
- Deliver individualised and engaging lessons, adapted to pupils’ specific communication and sensory needs
- Create a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation and independence
- Use autism-specific approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and mainstream colleagues to support inclusive learning opportunities
- Foster pupils' academic progress, social interaction, and self-confidence through structured teaching and personalised support
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working with pupils with ASD and additional needs, preferably in a primary or specialist provision
- Strong understanding of autism-specific teaching methods
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting behaviour and learning
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to inclusive practice
