BSL Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth – Immediate Start 
A specialist provision in Wandsworth is seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with students who are deaf or hearing impaired, supporting their communication and learning in a structured and inclusive environment
 
Role Overview 
  • Position: BSL Teaching Assistant 
  • Location: Wandsworth 
  • Start Date: Immediate 
  • Salary: £105 - £110 per day (dependent on experience) 
 
The ideal candidate will
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) – Essential 
  • Have experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired students in an educational setting 
  • Be confident in using BSL to support communication and learning 
  • Be patient, compassionate, and able to build strong relationships with students 
  • Work effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and speech & language therapists to support student progress 

Your Responsibilities
 
  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students who use BSL 
  • Assist in adapting learning materials to meet the needs of hearing-impaired students 
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers using BSL 
  • Support students in developing their confidence, independence, and academic skills 
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment 
  • Work closely with specialist staff to ensure students have access to the right support
