Job Description
Are you a QTS Design & Technology Teacher looking to make a real impact in a specialist setting? This exceptional special school is seeking a passionate DT Teacher to join their dedicated team, teaching secondary-aged students with a range of learning needs including autism, MLD and complex SEND. As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, skills-based DT lessons adapted to meet the individual needs of learners. Teaching small classes with the support of experienced Learning Support Assistants, you will help students develop practical skills, confidence and independence across a range of Design & Technology disciplines. This role is perfect for someone who loves hands-on teaching, creative problem-solving and building strong relationships with students who may learn differently.
Job Role:
- Planning and delivering differentiated DT lessons that meet the needs of secondary-aged pupils with SEND
- Creating engaging, safe and well-structured practical sessions
- Supporting pupils in developing practical, creative and technical skills
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching accordingly
- Working closely with Learning Support Assistants to ensure pupils are supported effectively
- Contributing to personalised behaviour plans, EHCP targets and individualised learning plans
- Maintaining a safe workshop environment in line with health and safety requirements
- Working collaboratively with the wider staff team to contribute to whole-school development
- Outstanding facilities and well-equipped DT learning spaces
- Small class sizes with excellent support from experienced LSAs
