Job Description

Are you an experienced Deputy Headteacher with a strong background in special education? A well-established special school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Deputy Headteacher to join its senior leadership team. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEND leader who is passionate about driving school improvement and ensuring that every pupil achieves their full potential.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school, working closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team to maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and pastoral support. The school caters for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, and communication challenges. You will be joining a strong and supportive team, committed to providing the best possible educational experience for all pupils.

Job Role:
• Leading on teaching, learning, and curriculum development across the school.
• Supporting the Headteacher with the strategic leadership and operational management of the school.
• Line managing and mentoring teachers and support staff, ensuring high standards across all areas.
• Overseeing assessment, data, and quality assurance to drive continuous improvement.
• Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school culture.
• Working collaboratively with parents, governors, and external agencies to support pupil outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Proven experience as a Deputy Headteacher within a special school setting.
• Strong understanding of SEND, including Autism, MLD, and complex learning needs.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for inclusive education and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• QTS and a proven track record of effective school leadership.
