Job Description
Are you an experienced Pastoral Lead with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the skills to build strong relationships, break down barriers, and create a positive, nurturing learning environment?
This outstanding SEMH school in South Birmingham is looking for a Pastoral Lead to join their dedicated team. The school has a strong support network, an excellent leadership team, and a child-centred approach to education. Your role will be pivotal in providing emotional and behavioural support, working closely with students, staff, and families to ensure every child thrives.
Job Role:
- Providing pastoral and emotional support to students with SEMH needs.
- Managing behaviour effectively and implementing de-escalation strategies.
- Building strong relationships with students, acting as a positive role model.
- Working closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide a holistic support system.
- Leading on attendance, safeguarding, and student well-being initiatives.
- Encouraging personal and academic growth, helping students overcome barriers to education.
- Experience working in a pastoral or behaviour support role within a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of SEMH, behaviour management strategies, and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
- A Level 3 qualification or above in education, youth work, or a related field (desirable).
- A valid DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
