Job Description
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne, Gateshead & Durham
Salary: £13.68- £14.00 per hour
Hours: between 8:30 - 3:30
About the Role:
Are you passionate about helping young people get back on track in their learning? We’re looking for a Student Engagement Mentor to work one-on-one with students who may be disengaged or struggling in school. Your role will be to build strong, trusting relationships, supporting students to develop resilience, confidence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to students, focusing on learning, emotional well-being, and engagement.
- Mentor and guide students to develop social skills, coping strategies, and a positive mindset.
- Implement effective behaviour management techniques to overcome challenges.
- Work alongside teachers, families, and support staff to create personalised support plans.
- Respond to crises promptly, ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Keep accurate records of interactions, progress, and incidents.
- Experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or disengagement.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and work collaboratively with others.
- Knowledge of behaviour management, mental health, and educational engagement strategies.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Safeguarding Level 3, PREVENT Awareness) are desirable.
- DBS on the update service preferred.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
