Wirral Council is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive SENDSTART Caseworker to join its dedicated SEND team. This is a vital role responsible for managing Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and reviews, ensuring compliance with statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage statutory EHC needs assessments within statutory timescales.
- Draft, amend, and finalise Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in collaboration with families and multi-agency professionals.
- Lead on annual reviews for children and young people with EHCPs.
- Work closely with schools, health and social care professionals to ensure provision is appropriate and effective.
- Provide clear, empathetic communication with parents, carers, and education providers throughout the process.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and contribute to data reporting for the team.
- Recent experience in a SEND statutory team, ideally within a local authority.
- Sound knowledge of SEND legislation, particularly the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Strong case management and organisational skills.
- Confident in managing relationships with families and professionals.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Enhanced DBS (can be arranged if not currently held).
