Social Worker – Family Safeguarding (East Hertfordshire)
📍 Stevenage or North Herts
💰 £39 per hour (Umbrella)
🕓 Full-time | Temporary contract

Pertemps are proud to be working with Hertfordshire County Council to recruit experienced Social Workers for their East Family Safeguarding Team.
We currently have vacancies across Stevenage and North Hertfordshire, offering the opportunity to join a supportive, well-structured service committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

About the Role As a Family Safeguarding Social Worker, you’ll:
  • Manage a mixed caseload of up to 18 Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases.
  • Undertake assessments, prepare reports, and contribute to court and care proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes.
  • Conduct home and school visits (mostly doorstop visits), supported by full risk assessments prior to any face-to-face work.
  • Operate within a hybrid model, with the team working remotely but maintaining strong communication and supervision structures.
Requirements
✅ Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration
✅ Minimum 3 years’ post-qualified experience
✅ Proven experience in CIN, CP, and safeguarding work
✅ Strong assessment, written, and communication skills
✅ Ability to manage complex workloads effectively
