Job Description

Occupational Therapist – Manual Handling
Location: Riverside, 4 Canning Road, Lowestoft, NR33 0EQ
Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working - Full time hours
Rate: £35 per hour (umbrella)

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Suffolk Council on a locum basis, with a strong focus on manual handling.

The ideal candidate will be:

Local to Lowestoft or able to commute daily
Experienced to Band 6 (or equivalent) level
Background in local authority preferred (NHS experience also considered)
Confident in delivering safe and effective manual handling practice

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering safe, timely, and effective front-line OT services within the directorate
Supporting triage and reducing duplication between health and social care to help manage OT waiting lists
Advising and supporting external care providers with safe moving and handling tasks
Reviewing care packages to ensure cost-effective service delivery and appropriate equipment use
Reviewing double-handed care packages and making recommendations
Providing mutual aid across other OT teams when required
Carrying out comprehensive OT assessments and reviews
