Are you an experienced operations leader with a passion for driving performance, improving service levels, and leading high‑performing teams? This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy logistics operation as an Operations Manager, overseeing day‑to‑day site activities and ensuring exceptional customer service delivery.
About the Role
As Operations Manager, you will play a key leadership role in managing all site operational activities through a team of supervisors, warehouse staff and support personnel. You will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with health & safety standards, and support the General Manager with the delivery of customer and contractual commitments.
This role requires a hands‑on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, builds strong relationships, and motivates teams to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage operational teams to achieve daily, weekly and monthly performance targets.
- Oversee all warehouse and site management functions, deputising for the General Manager when required.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, security and Quality Management processes.
- Maintain strong customer relationships, working closely with the Customer Service team to meet KPI and service expectations.
- Support with budgeting, reporting, and KPI production.
- Manage stock control processes in line with internal systems and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement, proactively resolving issues and implementing service enhancement plans.
- Maintain accurate operational and financial records.
- Ensure effective communication across all departments, building strong internal and external working relationships.
- Experience working in and supervising within a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong team leadership and people management experience.
- Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
- Good understanding of P&L, budgets, and financial processes.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety standards — NEBOSH/IOSH desirable.
- IT literate and confident with warehouse systems and Microsoft Office.
- Formal management training or qualifications ideal but not essential.
- GCSEs as a minimum; A‑Levels or degree preferred.
- CPC National Road Freight
- Known Consignor / Responsible Officer qualifications
