Job Description

Job Title: Process Scientist.

Employer: Thames Water.

Location: Hybrid – Fobney (WTW), RG2 0SF.

Working Hours: 36 hours per week.

Salary: Competitive, up to £40,000 per annum. (depending on skills and experience)

Additional Benefits: Access to a company van during fieldwork.
Thames Water is seeking a Process Scientist to provide expert technical support to operational teams, ensuring regulatory compliance and meeting business targets.

You will monitor water quality from source to service reservoir, investigate water quality incidents, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Your role will also include supporting Production, Network, and Capital Delivery schemes and providing out-of-hours technical assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a technical advisor within the clean water production operations team.
  • Investigate water quality infringements, report findings, and recommend remedial actions.
  • Support Capital Expenditure (Capex) schemes and projects.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Operations, Engineering, and other internal teams.
  • Collaborate closely with water quality monitoring teams (e.g., catchment, groundwater).
  • Identify and suggest improvements or innovations to enhance asset or business performance.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • HNC or Degree in a Scientific or Engineering discipline. (or equivalent)
  • Experience in water treatment, supply, or regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various sites. (valid driving license required).
  • Logical, analytical mindset with a professional and positive approach.
  • Due to the nature of the role, a Full UK driving licence is required.
