Job Description

We are looking for an Area Pumping Manager to join Thames Water permanently.
You will lead a multi-disciplined team including a Field Performance Manager, Technical Coordinator and several multi-skilled technicians carrying out Operational and Maintenance activities at Sewage Pumping Stations in the Home Counties South region.

You will be accountable and responsible for the safety, leadership and management of resources as well as the operation and maintenance of sewage Pumping Stations to achieve set performance and expenditure targets, quality standards, statutory requirements and customer service.

You will join a team that is recognised as having Operational expertise across a wide geographical area, providing critical services to the waste network at Thames Water.
  • Monday - Friday 07:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • Location – Esher STW.

What you will be doing as an Area Pumping Manager?
  • Guide and develop a multi-disciplined team delivering Planned and Defective Maintenance for approximately 270 Sewage Pumping Stations.
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of up to 17 people.
  • Deliver operational performance through performance management of Thames Water staff and contractors.
  • Champion change through a passion for continuous improvement, promoting best practice ways of working and sharing local knowledge.
  • Meet and exceed tight financial targets whilst maintaining quality.
  • Deliver increasing levels of customer service and experience.
  • Drive a culture of safety, performance management and exceptional customer service.
  • Drive continuous improvement at all levels, improving service, reducing cost and improving asset performance and reliability.
  • Minimise environmental impact, reducing the risk of pollution incidents and developing contingency plans to enable effective response to operational issues and plant failures.
  • Drive our Health and Safety Policies and promote zero incidents, zero harm, and zero compromise.

What skills are we looking for?
  • To be considered for this role you will be of at least HNC/D calibre in a process or ideally a technically related field, along with supervisory qualifications/experience.
  • Excellent leadership experience, capability and vision.
  • Current H&S management competence.
  • Ability to deliver against stretching operational targets.
  • IT literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving and strong teamwork and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A full current driving license is essential.
