Pertemps are delighted to be partnering with an established independent chartered accountancy firm with strong roots in the North East. This forward-thinking firm provides a comprehensive range of services, including tax advice, accounting, and business consultancy, helping businesses thrive with expert financial guidance. This position offers the opportunity to work with a broad client base, including sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and charities. Responsibilities include the preparation and auditing of accounts for businesses spanning various industries, such as legal services, engineering, hospitality, and the charity sector.

The successful candidate must be able to commit to a part time role (22.5 hours per week) although a full-time position would be considered for the right candidate. This role will cover a wide range of personal tax matters including compliance, advisory and planning work.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assisting the Tax Manager with ad-hoc advisory projects.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients, including sole traders, landlords, directors, and non-resident individuals.
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities within your portfolio and communicating them to the company’s directors.
  • Preparing and submitting Self-Assessment Tax Returns and 60-day Capital Gains Tax returns where applicable.
  • Communicating tax liabilities to clients and providing the necessary information to ensure timely payments in line with relevant deadlines.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Be ATT qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Have experience of managing their own portfolio of clients within a busy accountancy practice environment.
  • Have experience of all aspects of the Self-Assessment Tax Return process.
  • Have strong technical personal tax knowledge and the ability to research and communicate technical information to both colleagues and clients.
  • Have the ability to liaise with clients, resolving their queries in a timely manner.
