Job Title: Accountant
Contract Duration: 12th May 2025 – 28th June 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate: £28.15 per hour (£51,371 per annum)
Location: Home-Based

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CCAB-qualified Accountant to manage a financial support team for a nominated service department. The successful candidate will provide expert financial support and advice for medium and long-term financial planning, including capital and revenue budget preparation and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the financial support team, ensuring effective service delivery.
Provide strategic financial advice to support medium- and long-term planning for the nominated service department.
Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and management of capital and revenue budgets.
Offer financial performance reporting and support service reviews, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
Support the Finance Manager in key corporate finance services such as tax management, financial accounting (including year-end accounts), treasury management, and asset management.
Contribute to corporate objectives and participate in cross-service working groups and Best Value Review teams.
Assist with the development and delivery of Service/Business Plans.
Champion equality and inclusion in service provision and employment.

Essential Requirements:

CCAB-qualified Accountant with relevant experience.
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with professional body requirements.
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in financial planning and budgetary control.
Ability to provide strategic financial advice and contribute to corporate objectives.
Experience in financial performance reporting and supporting efficiency improvement initiatives.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
