Lead with Purpose in a People-First Consultancy
An established building services consultancy with a strong commitment to sustainability and technical excellence is looking to appoint an Associate Electrical Design Engineer in their Oxfordshire office.
This is a leadership role—ideal for someone who not only wants to deliver great design work, but also mentor others, shape projects at a strategic level, and influence the future direction of a growing, design-led business.
You’ll work in a consultancy known for its low-carbon design ethos, Passivhaus credentials, and collaborative partnerships with architects, developers, and forward-thinking clients.
Your Role in the Business
- Lead the electrical discipline on high-performance building services projects across education, residential, heritage, and science sectors
- Take ownership of design quality, from early-stage feasibility through to construction and post-occupancy
- Act as a mentor and technical guide to junior and intermediate engineers, creating a culture of development and collaboration
- Represent the business at a senior level in client meetings, design workshops, and project reviews
- Work closely with the mechanical, sustainability, and BIM teams to deliver coordinated and compliant MEP designs
- Contribute to strategic planning, team resourcing, and client development
- Help drive innovation in sustainable technologies and low-energy system design
- Engage in continuous improvement of internal processes, QA procedures, and design standards
What You Bring
- A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Strong understanding of electrical systems in buildings: power, lighting, life safety, data, controls, etc.
- Up-to-date with UK standards (BS 7671), building regs, CIBSE guides, and sustainability frameworks (e.g. Passivhaus, BREEAM)
- Confidence leading teams and managing client relationships
- Competency in design tools: AutoCAD, Revit (desirable), Amtech, Dialux/Relux
- Chartered or actively working towards CEng status
- A clear communicator with a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach
Why You’ll Thrive Here
- Hybrid working with a welcoming Oxfordshire office and flexibility built on trust
- Work on nationally recognised sustainable design projects, including certified Passivhaus schemes
- Be part of a business that believes in hands-on leadership, open dialogue, and long-term partnerships
- Grow into a senior leadership position with direct influence on the team and the business
- Benefits include:
- 28 days holiday + bank holidays
- Private medical insurance
- 8% employer pension contribution
- Life insurance
- Annual bonus scheme
- Cycle-to-work and electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes
- Training budget and chartership support
