Job Description

We are looking for an experienced structural technician with building structures experience for an award winning practice to work  in their Cardiff office. This engineering consultancy typically punches well above it’s weight with the kind of projects it brings in and has expanded it’s operation significantly.

Projects come from across; Transport Planning, Environmental, Structural and Civil Engineering and have recently included:
  • Education projects up to £100m
  • Retail and Leisure up to £75m
  • Mixed use Residential up to £53m
  • Local breweries in the region of £8m
  • Automotive facilities circa £40m
As a senior technician, you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Detailed drawing and modelling duties on building structures from a range of sectors
  • Working closely with and supporting senior engineers
  • Using AutoCAD and Revit Structure
  • Obtaining a good understanding of issues on site and devising and providing solutions
  • Communicating with contractors, architects and engineers
  • Assisting in the development of junior technicians and engineers
  • Keeping your skills with emerging software and design practices up to date through CPD
  • Using your knowledge of the design process to assist in the delivery of projects

Essential criteria for this role:
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of the design process
  • A keen interest in working in a digital BIM environment
