Job Description

Are you an experienced structural engineer looking for a step into senior management, leading and developing a structural team?

We have a fresh role in Exeter for a someone who has experience delivering a varied mix of major building structures, this business has a solid pipeline of work along with contemporary working practices.

Responsibilities include:
  • Completing planned work programmes and projects to timeframes and with budget.
  • Managing client needs, defining project technical specifications, manage costs, fees and commercial requirement and ensure that projects are delivered to client satisfaction.
  • Assisting the relevant director in managing engineering resources across the Structural Engineering team.
  • Supporting business development activity to enhance, grow and diversify the engineering capabilities.
  • Managing the implementation of best practice in the Structural Engineering team.
  • Leading major projects ensuring that they are delivered to the specification. 
  • Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, drawing and carrying out risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment and new building schemes, tendering documents and supervising works to completion including agreeing interim and final accounts.
  • Preparing schedules of dilapidations, improvement scheme, drawings and specifications, structural surveys, and insurance reinstatement schemes.
  • Responding to emergency requests for action or advice regarding dangerous buildings. Attending and advising on incidents.
  • Providing advice to clients in respect of construction and refurbishment projects and actively promote surveying services on a fee-paying basis.
  • Fee earning and contributing to the achievement of business plan objective and targets.
 This role will include working with multidisciplinary design teams around the country and it is essential that someone has excellent communication skills.

Desirable experience includes:
  • Team management
  • Designing in traditional materials to EuroCodes
  • Knowledge of modern design packages such as Tekla Tedds and Revit
  • Experience with building structures
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
We are looking for someone who will prove to be proactive in terms of developing the team.
