Contract: Temporary, ongoing

About the Role
We're recruiting on behalf of one of our public sector clients for a Data Analyst to join their Analytical Services team based in Swansea.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the rollout of a new Direct Data Capture (DDC) process that will improve how laboratory data is collected, transferred and managed. The role sits at the intersection of technical data analysis and process coordination, ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with systems and collaborating across teams.
You'll act as the link between laboratory operations, IT specialists and external partners to ensure data flows accurately and efficiently from source to system.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the DDC system into a live laboratory environment.
- Work with internal teams (data, IT, lab analysts) and external partners to deliver and test the system.
- Build and run SQL queries to extract, move and validate data between systems.
- Contribute to database analysis and process improvements.
- Assist with system documentation, user guides and standard operating procedures.
- Carry out some manual lab-based admin tasks such as printing, signing and processing sample paperwork.
- Act as a key liaison - ensuring communication between teams is smooth and issues are resolved promptly.
We're looking for someone who is both technically skilled and process-driven, with the confidence to work across different teams and systems.
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong SQL skills - able to write and adapt queries.
- Experience working with relational databases and data extraction.
- Comfortable configuring and using online systems and applications.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach.
- Experience managing or supporting technical projects.
- Experience with Crystal Reports, LIMS, or data capture systems.
- Understanding of data quality, process automation or governance.
- Public sector or laboratory environment experience (not essential).
